A letter was sent out to Veterans Administration Supportive Housing (VASH) participants on August 1, 2012, in response to a veteran’s request that the veteran has a voice in shaping housing services at the VA Puget Sound. The very first meeting was held October 16, 2012…Fast forward to today, we have been an established 501c3 nonprofit organization since 2016 and continue to serve our fellow Veterans since 2013.

The mission and purpose of the Veterans Community Housing Council is to empower and support veterans to overcome their housing challenges. From ending homelessness to eviction prevention, VCHC advocates for and assists Veterans and their families with navigating the housing system.

Who is the VCHC
The Veterans Community Housing Council (VCHC) is a group of formerly homeless Veterans and family members who answered the call to work with other homeless and formerly homeless Veterans and their families to improve their housing circumstances.
At the VCHC, we provide a safe way for Veterans to have a voice regarding their housing challenges so that they get on and/or stay on the path of homelessness recovery.
There continues to be a genuine need for Veteran peer support and service gaps that need to be fulfilled. Who better understands other Veterans than Veterans themselves?
As a GPD or VASH recipient, Veteran, or family member, you are eligible to become a member.
